Archive of over 45 Photographs from the Collection of Harold Colee, Long-time VP of the Florida State Chamber of Commerce

(Floridiana) COLEE, Harold; CALDWELL, Millard; et al.

Jacksonville: Original, Circa 1950. Original Photograph. Folder. Nearly all of the photographs are ORIGINAL 8X10 B/W shots. Very Good. Item #956

Nice archive of 47 photographs and one TLS (on Atlantic Coast Line stationery) from the private collection of Harold Wilfred Colee. Colee was the long-time Vice-President of the Florida State Chamber of Commerce. As his position with the organization demanded, Colee traveled Florida and the United States in an effort to entice both more business relocations to Florida as well as push existing businesses to expand within the boundaries of the state. Colee was active in Florida commercial real estate as well as having been important to Industrial relations in the state. Many of the photographs included in the archive document advertising or promotional events for the State of Florida. At least three of the photographs feature Governor Millard Fillmore Caldwell. Other photographs in the collection include: The signing of the Freedom Scroll, the Chamber building in Jacksonville, the opening of the Harry Anna Memorial Crippled Children's Hospital, the 1952 Annual Convention of the Society of Industrial Realtors (in Miami) and a shot of Colee with the visiting Italian Ambassador circa 1950. A few of the photographs are signed.

Overall, a nice assemblage of photographs documenting mid 20th Century Florida Industrial expansion. It was exactly this sort of activity that stirred Walt Disney to visit as well as start acquiring land in Florida in the early 1960's. Condition - Each of the photographs shows a bit of wear, some more than others. Condition overall is graded at Very Good. A few of the photographs are stamped and/or identified on the verso. All photographs are B/W.

Price: $650.00
