Scarce original complete seven volume set of 1920's sex education guides for young men and women. Dr. Hubbard, a dermatologist, was a major and surgeon in the New York National Guard from 1891 to 1898 and major and surgeon with United States infantry volunteers in the Spanish-American War. After the war he worked in New York and was an active member of the New York Health Department. Dr. Hubbard directed the activities of many of its bureaus and was particularly active in efforts to eliminate “quacks” and in investigating violations of medical practice acts. He also had a passion for imparting his knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases, eugenics and the dangers of forming the habit of masturbation. While these 1920's "sex manuals" are filled with dated and sometimes offensive material, there is also a surprising amount of compassion and information that probably actually helped create stronger, better marriages.
