“Reminiscencias Cubanas De la Guerra y de la Paz” by Luis Rodolfo Miranda is a reflective, memory-driven account of Cuba at a turning point in its history. Rather than presenting events as a formal historian would, Miranda writes from lived experience, blending personal recollections with observations of the broader struggle for independence. Luis Rodolfo Miranda La Rúa was a Commander in the Cuban Liberating Army from 1876 to his death in 1952. He participated in the Siege of Santiago de Cuba. During the Republican era, he served in the police force and the Department of Communications. On June 6, 1914, he was appointed Consul General in Lisbon, Portugal. On May 10, 1919, he was promoted to the rank of Ambassador to the same country. On January 23, 1923, he assumed charge of the Cuban Embassy in Belgium, where he remained for nine years. He served as Secretary of State in 1936 and 1939.
