The introduction states that these guides were created to inspire study as well as a greater appreciation for the land more and more Americans are seeing thanks to transcontinental railroads. Each issue bound in original plain green wraps. This complete set formerly held by the University of Wisconsin, although we can find only one stamp on the cover of the first volume to confirm this. PROFUSELY ILLUSTRATED with all fold-out maps and diagrams intact as issued. A scarce geographic survey of America published at the dawn of the automobile. Light rubbing and a previous owner name to first page of each volume. Covers lightly worn at edges and spine ends. A very attractive set overall.
