"We on a Natural High National Trip!"

Limited to only 1000 copies. B/W Anthology of comics from artists and writers who lived in Bedford-Stuyvesant (Bed-Stuy), New York. As with most Underground works, Brain Tablet uses common pop-culture to express angst and out-right anger at issues confronting the artists. Mixed with some history of Black culture in New York and brief bios of important figures in Black history, the "Brain Waves" section is nothing short of a lengthy manifesto for Black Power! As with similar Undergrounds, this book highlights voices, styles, and creative communities that often don’t get large commercial exposure. Contents include comics such as "Fantastic Black Folks and the Harlem Four", "Space Cadillac", "Teenage Mutilated Injured Turtles", "The Munchie Brothers" and more...

Features art by Kip Omolade, legendary graffiti artist who interned at Marvel Comics and The Center for African Art. The comic was the brainchild of Winston Blakely (Ahema), noted artist and former ink man at Valiant Comics - AND LEGENDARY UNDERGROUND COMIC MAN. Also includes work by David Hodge, Fred Butler, Jim Dyson, Andre Gordon, Hubert Thomas and Professor Homeboy.

The Bed-Stuy section of Brooklyn continues to be a ground zero for the ever-present gentrification being experienced in most large US cities... In 1992, this historically Black neighborhood was under immense pressure as more and more Latino and White suburban seekers infiltrated the area. While this is not a place to discuss the pros and cons of this sort of social movement, it is important to recognize that the movement can be felt in the pages of this book. VERY SCARCE IN COMMERCE.
