First edition of Munroe's novel of his time with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry during World War I. The story is told through the eyes of his collie, Bobbie Burns, whom he smuggled overseas. SIGNED "TO BILL - THE YANK, JACK MUNROE" on the ffep. PO signature of NG Hadley [Sgt, 2nd Co. / Princess Pat's Light Infantry] on the front pastedown. Munroe was a noted boxer, having defeated heavyweight champ Jim Jeffries in a 1904 bout in Montana. He even had at least one trading card produced as a boxer [1909 E75 American Carmel Set]. Munroe was wounded at Armnentiers. He was a famous boxer, miner, hunter and soldier. The book covers the exploits of the Princess Pats in World War I, fighting in France.
