The Conquest of Cancer by Radium and Other Methods (SIGNED 1ST)
Philadelphia: F.A. Davis Company, 1929. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. 6 1/4 X 9 1/4 Inches. 539 PP. Fair. Item #8022
Inscribed by Dr. Quigley, a pioneer in cancer reasearch and the use of radium in the field of oncology. Signed, "Presented to Peggy / With the compliments of the author, D.D.T. Quigley" on the FFEP. First edition of this important early study of cancers treated using radium. While much of this practice has now ceased, the work of Dr. Quigley and the use of radium had a profound impact on the current treatment of cancer in our modern world. Illustrated with 334 engravings, most of which show the horrors of various cancers on the human body. While this book is widely held on OCLC, copies in commerce are very scarce. Originally issued as a medical text, this book is quite large and heavy. The block is pulling apart at the hinges and the front hinge has been repaired with cloth tape. Some spotting and wear at edges and to covers. Not the cleanest of examples, but a rare surviving autographed copy nonetheless.
Price: $250.00
