Important original 1968 (third year) program from the Atlanta Jazz Festival at Fulton County Stadium. The brainchild of George Wein and Dick Cecil! The annual jazz festival circuit established by George Wein, in collaboration with Newport (KOOL) cigarettes, altered the course of Jazz music in America. The festivals featured stars both white and black and showcased the power of modern jazz in America. Cecil, an exececutive the with the Atlanta Braves and President of Atlanta Stadium Productions, Inc., recognized the potential of a KOOL Jazz Festival in Atlanta... and the rest is history. The 1968 festival in Atlanta saw a huge BOOM in popularity of the Jazz Fest and brought on Schlitz Brewing and Pan American Airways as sponsors. The festival maintains a vibrant yearly presence in Atlanta to this day!
