Original vellum spine over paper boards. Folding publisher prospectus to this title folded and laid-in. A scarce copy of the limited edition with original rought cut edges. Quite edgy for the time, Aphrodite is a fine example of the erotic book market of the early 20th century. Published in limited quantities, usually by subscription, books such as this often purported to be "scientific" in nature. Louys, a French poet, was known for his lesbian themes as well as his writing chops. A very attractive copy with some wear at paper edges and some foxing to spine.
