First state copy in the original red cloth binding. #99 of only 350 signed by Eudora Welty on the limitation page. Welty's short biography of Toy, a Mississippi midwife and second hand clothing seller. Two B/W photosgraphs of Toy as well as 14 PP reproduction of an original letter from Toy to Charles Shattuck (author and University of Illinois Professor). Gift inscription to Bob Oram signed by eight on the FFEP. Small stain to front cover as shown. Oram is a former Director at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library. The book was presented to him by the Friends of the Library, which he helped found. A nice copy with a nice University of Illiniois pedigree.
