Indianapolis, IN: The Bobbs-Merrill Company, 1902. First Edition. Hardcover. 5 3/8 X 8 Inches. 176 PP. Very Good / Fair. Item #5938
Original maroon cloth boards with some light scuffing at joints and edges. DJ chipped and stained a bit. Lengthy previous owner inscription to his four year old daughter on her birthday (December 26th, 1930). The "Daddy" speaks of being one of the estimated 35,000 people that viewed the body of James Whitcomb Riley under the dome of the Indiana state capital after his passing. The Dad goes on to give three pages of life advice to his daughter. Light damp-staining to top edge.
Despite the flaws, this is an excessively rare dust jacket.
