Anti-Man (SIGNED ASSOCIATION COPY - CRITICAL OF OWN BOOK TITLE)

New York: Paperback Library, 1970. Paperback Original (1st). Original wraps. 4 1/8 X 7 Inches. 142 PP. Near Fine. Item #5823

First and only printing of this very early Koontz Sci-Fi novel. Signed and inscribed to noted Koontz collector and friend, Gary Elswick. Signed: "To Gary, My title was -The Mystery of the Flesh - but the weird crowd in New York were certain that it would be mistaken for a gay novel! So they stuck on this dumb title. Best, Dean R. Koontz" directly on the title-page. Koontz inscription about sums it up... Would be hard to imagine an earlier or more intimate inscription from Koontz exists on this title. Cover art by Steele Savage. As Dean Koontz began to make a bit of money with his writing, he went around and bought up the rights to his early science-fiction titles including this one to ensure that they would never be issued again (as we understand it). Faint crease to spine, else a clean and very sharp copy.

Price: $500.00
