First issue with the called for "nearly ready" next to this listing on page 11 of the publisher catalog at rear. Later issues showed the price of $1.25. This copy owned, signed and dated by Civil War Assistant Paymaster William Henry Hathorne. Hathorne served in the U.S. Navy on the Cincinnati and the Silver Cloud. Interesting date of April 10, 1865 in Hathorne's hand as well (the date of Robert E. Lee's final address to Confederate troops after his surrender at Appomattix). Additional later ownership signature on the front pastedown. Several loose signatures and some wear to edges. Spine worn with some missing cloth to front joint.
