Scarce book of spiritual poetry by the first Lutheran City Missionary in St. Louis, MO. Herzberger was an influential late 19th Century Lutheran minister in the midwest. He was an outspoken advocate for the spread of the gospel among negro communities in America. His speeches reflect his deep belief in race equality that was surely met with resentment and opposition.
