Tulsa, OK: Vickers Printing, 1947. First Edition, First Printing. Cloth. 5 1/2 X 8 Inches. 254 PP. Fair. Item #3790
Stated "First Edition July, 1947" on the title-page. Very scarce original hardcover issue of the title later issued by Gollancz and Anchor Press. The book was issued under the title "Sister of the Damned" in 1949. While information is difficult to find on this original first printing, the book was originally spun as an autobiographical "Insandectomy" - a journal from inside insanity. Vickers issued the book under the pretense that it was a biography of an inmate of an insane asylum that was never intended for publication. The book was actually probably written by a male and is full of coded lesbianism. A scarce novel from the first wave of modern lesbian literature (1900-1950).
Bound in plain original green cloth. A bit of scuffing and wear to covers and edges. Spine a bit darker than boards. A rare book in commerce.
