Paris, France: Original, 1895. Very Good. Item #3771

Very nice archive of postcards and letters dated 1895 to 1898. Letters from the family of Paul B. Tuzo, a noted American architect residing at the time in France. Tuzo was part of a group of accomplished architects hired by The University of California, Berkeley in 1899 to inspect the property and advise on future construction plans. This advisory consultation coincided with the late 19th Century gifts to the University by Levi Strauss, Phoebe Apperson Hearst and Cora Jane Flood.

The lot consists of 17 letters and 11 postcards in the hand of Paul Tuzo. The majority of the letters are to his father, Captain Benjamin Tuzo of New York City. Much of the content is regarding his splendid European travels, bicycling in Europe and the Spanish-American War. While we have only perused the letters, we have found commentary on architecture, accompanied by several drawings and sketches. 28 pieces total.

Price: $500.00
