SCARCE original hardcover edition of the first outing in the Indiana Jones saga. SIGNED BY SCULPTOR BRIAN MUIR DIRECTLY ON THE TITLE-PAGE. Autograph obtained in-person and a photograph can be provided. Copyright page states "1981", and the letter code of L27 on page 183 are the correct first issue points. Hints of wear to edges of extremely delicate original dust jacket. Small 1/2 inch area of paper losst to DJ spine. A nice (AND UNIQUE) copy overall.
A bit more on Mr. Muir. For anyone who grew up in the 1970's and 1980's, Brian's work is most certainly part of your film experiences. Although most famous for being the man who sculpted the Darth Vader Helmut & Armor, based on the original illustrations by Ralph McQuarrie, Muir worked on Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Willow, Young Sherlock Holmes, The Princess Bride, Krull, Superman and many, many more. This is the man who carved the Ark of the Covenant, sculpted the beating heart in Temple of Doom and created the Cliffs of Insanity in The Princess Bride.
