The Birds of Georgia (LIMITED EDITION IN SLIPCASE W/ ORIGINAL PROSPECTUS)

Savannah, GA: The Beehive Press, 1997. Limited Edition. Hardcover. 10 1/2 C 12 1/2 Inches. Approx. 100 PP. Near Fine. Item #945

The first book format of The Birds of Georgia by John Abbot. Abbot, a relatively well-known Naturalist, moved to the American South from England when he was 22 years old. He spent his life working in the swamps and wooded areas of Georgia, chronicling the wildlife and sending stuffed specimens and illustrations around the world. Amazingly, his bird illustrations were never published in a book format until this limited edition in 1997.

Bound in original maroon publisher cloth. Housed in linen slipcase with title stamped in silver on front panel. Original prospectus laid-in. An exceptional copy of this important naturalist work on the American South.

Price: $125.00
