First printing with the complete number line to the "1" on the copyright page. Original "Die-Cut" porthole cover. Signed by Clive Cussler directly on the title-page. While not stated, this book is from the vast collection of noted Cussler biographer and collector Wayne Valero. Valero was also the founder of the Clive Cussler Collector's Society. Light wear to spine and corners, although this copy remains in much better condition than typically encountered. Small tear to porthole circle. NOTE: While not the first book published featuring Dirk Pitt, Cussler stated that this was the first story he wrote starring Dirk Pitt. He felt it wasn't very good and only published later under pressure. The only hardcover edition was published decades later by James Cahill.
