The Gay Illiterate (LEATHER PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED TO JACK L. WARNER)
Garden City, NY: Doubleday, Doran and Co., 1944. First Edition. Leather bound. 5 3/8 X 8 Inches. 194 PP. Very Good. Item #6514
Presentation copy, signed and inscribed by the author to the front blank recto to Jack L. Warner, late executive of Warner Bros. Studios, for his birthday. Parsons was known in the 1920's and 30's as the "Queen of Hollywood" and actors generally feared a bad review from her more than the critics. She was a pioneer of the hollywood gossip industry and has two stars on the Hollywood walk of fame. It is rumored that the character Dora Bailey in "Singin' in the Rain" was based on Parsons. A very personal copy to a trusted friend and supporter. The name Warner and its importance in Hollywood needs no further hyperbole from my pen... Light rubbing to edges and hinges.
