First edition from Coates following the success of the 1897 original that was published by J.C. Bauer. Born in Alabama, Moore trained as a lawyer but found success in the literary field in the early 20th Century. He served as editor of several literary magazines and is probably most famous for this collection of his stories, most of which were originally published in periodicals. His "Old Wash" and "Ole Mistis" stories are included. All illustrations intact. Housed in original decorative green cloth binding. Light wear to edges and hinges. PO name on FFEP. Toning and foxing throughout. Front hinge cracked.
