Scarce 1961 hardcover first printing of the combined Tante Marie Cookbooks (including French Kitchen and French Cakes and Patries). Translated into English by Charlotte Turgeon with the help of Ann Rogers. This combined edition of the early Tante Marie cookbooks was printed in the same year as Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. As the Tanta Marie cooking school was the first school in the UK to offer a Cordon Bleu Diploma and we know Child read, studied and practiced from existing French cookery books voraciously, we must assume that the Tante Marie books would have been early influences for Child in Paris.
This edition bound in original white cloth with blue title-stamping to spine. Originla price of "25s" intact on front flap. Light wear to DJ edges and folds. A very appealing copy of an overlooked classic!
