Signed to noted Civil War collector and CIA clandestine service member George Snider Jr. The second volume bears Snider's blindstamp although not inscibed to him by Bearss. Highly sought after and very desireable set in Civil War circles. Mr. Bearss was a former chief historican for the National Park Service and authored dozens of books on the Civil War. He is widely remembered for his many appearances in Ken Burn's Civil War documentary series. A very attractive set of the 1991 reissue that appears unread.
