Official photographic album created to celebrate the near six-month Centennial celebration of Tennessee statehood. Published under the direction of Dr. W.L. Dudley and G.H. Baskette of the Committee on Publication. An impressive history of the state of Tennessee as well as a veritable who's who of Tennessee history. Illustrated with hundreds of engravings and photographs of historical buildings and citizens as well as the actual Centennial Celebration activities and locations. A notoriously scarce book.
This copy is rebacked in recent black leather spine and rear board (with tips). Retains original front board with gilt illustration and title work. First twenty or so pages quite damaged at edges with primitive tape repairs. While several pages are creased and taped, the text is complete. Original color frontis illustration of The Parthenon intact (with tape repair to edges). A lower grade example of this book that is rarely seen in commerce.
