London: A. Millar, 1765. First Edition. 346 PP. Very Good. Item #3762
The man who famously asked Congress for a quarter cask of public wine for his work on the American Flag and currency designs!
Signed by Francis Hopkinson on the title-page. Known for his signing the Declaration of Independence as a member of the Second Continental Congress from New Jersey, Hopkinson was also an early designer of the American Flag. While his signature is one of the easier to obtain for any DOI autograph collectors, books from his personal library are scarce. This copy originally offered for sale in the early 2000's by R&R Auction (hence it passed inspection of John Reznikoff among others).
Complete Index and two folding plates. Volume II only. Original calf boards with remnant of red leather spine label. Hinges weak and primitive early tape to front joint. Foxing and toning thoughout. A bit of wear to a edges of text. Boards and spine worn and scuffed. Housed in beautiful custom case.
Price: $2,250.00
