Original Press Kit to the Mission that influenced a generation of kids in the 1980's! While deemed outdated, the Space Shuttle Columbia sure is cool!

Original NASA Press Kit & exhaustive news reference binder from the 1981 STS-1 mission. STS-1 was NASA's first manned space shuttle mission. The crew, John Young (Commander) and Robert "Bob" Crippen (Pilot), were the first space shuttle passengers aboard the Columbia Shuttle from April 12-14, 1981. The importance of this mission to space travel and all subsequent Shuttle missions of the 1980's cannot be overstated. NASA has described the flight as "the boldest test flight in history."

Each of the two sections retain the original blue paper front and rear cover. Both are housed in an original issue plain black binder. The text is 100% complete. Light wear to covers and metal spine of the binder. Each section marked with an ink "NG" in the upper right corner. A handwritten "Columbia" on the front cover of the press kit. While copies of the Press Kit pop up from time to time, the News reference section is seldom seen.

Price: $200.00
