Garden City, NY: Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc., 1935. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. 5 3/4 X 8 1/8 Inches. 338 PP. Good / Good. Item #3152
Original publisher green cloth binding a bit sunned and worn at edges. Original dust jacket appears to have been trimmed a bit. Jacket edges and folds are tender, but have preserved well due to the fact that there is a simple brown paper backing applied. A much loved copy, but still very appealing. Hetty Green was noted as the wealthiest American woman of the Gilded Age. She was arguably the wealthiest woman in the world at the time of her death in 1916. Her soiled reputation as a "witch" and a miser were due in part to the fact that she was a woman of business in a time when women weren't in business.
