London: T. Fisher Unwin, 1920. First UK Edition. Cloth. 5 1/4 X 7 3/4 Inches. 236 PP + Publisher Catalog. Good / Very Good. Item #2824
"Mrs. Cecil Clementi (whose husband is Colonial Secretary of British Guiana, and has administered the Government there on two occasions) has lived in that country about six years. She is the first woman who has climed the cliff-faced Mount Roraima, where the frontiers of Brazil, Venezuela, and British Guiana meet, and no other woman has been there since she made this ascent." (From the front panel of the dust jacket)
Original grent cloth binding with gilt title stamping to spine and embossed in blind on front panel. Copyright states "First Published 1920" with no additional printings. Housed in the very scarce original printed dust jacket. Boards a bit stained here and there. A bit of the paper from the jacket affixed to cloth binding at lower spine (Might have been glued down in a few very small spots at some point. This would actually explain how the jacket survived.). DJ a bit worn at edges. Overall, a very presentable copy of this scarce account of life and exploration in early 20th Century British Guiana.
