Chicago, IL: Williams Electronics, 1982. First Edition, First Printing. Original wraps. 8 1/4 X 11 Inches. 1/2 Fold-Out. Near Fine. Item #2575
Original 1982 folding sales flyer for JOUST! While Williams had entered the video game industry much earlier, it wasn't until 1980 that they really came into their own. JOUST was preceded by the hit games DEFENDER AND STARGATE from Williams. JOUST was soon followed by ROBOTRON and MOON PATROL. Most of the games from Williams Electronics in the early 1980's were licensed to ATARI and other home unit manufacturers. As I am one of those guys who can actually remember putting a quarter on a machine while I went for a soda, I can tell you that JOUST was one of the most popular and influential games of the 1980's.
The flyer is one of the original issues featuring photographs of the upright model. For those folks who have read Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, you know how important this game was to James Halliday...Light wear to edges. A very scarce piece of early 80's video ephemera.
