Washington DC: Gales & Seaton (GPO). First Edition, First Printing. Original wraps. 5 1/2 X 8 5/8 Inches. Very Good. Item #2413
Two volumes, both removed from larger volume. The 1822 "Treaty with Spain for the Cession of the Floridas" is 48 PP. The 1824 "Transactions in East and West Florida" is 86 PP long.
Early first-hand accounts of Florida's transition from Spanish territory (Post 1821) to US State (1845). At the time of these publications, East and West Florida were seperated and Andrew Jackson served as the provisional governor of the territory. The content here reflects the struggle of taking over power from the Spanish contingent that remained in Florida as well as the Seminole Indian problems that would later lead to promises of land west of the Mississippi and eventually war. Light toning and foxing. Very rare.
