North Hollywood, CA: Original Letter, 1967. Ephemera. Single Sheet. 3 1/2 X 8 1/8 Inches. Very Good. Item #1346
Mrs. Wallace Reid signed letter in regards to the death of her daughter, Betty Mummert. Wallace and Dorothy Reid had two children, Betty being the adopted daughter (supposedly the fruit of an affair that Wallace had). This letter, postmarked December 19, 1967 references Wallace as well as the untimely death of their daughter. The letter was culled from the personal collection of family member Robert Reid, who worked in the television industry himself. In part; "Dear Mr. Reid, You & your wife must forgive my seeming neglect in acknowledging and thanking you for your "family tree" ("ours" I mean), but my daughter, who was hospitalized when you were here, passed away..." Holiday card with accompanying original cover.
Mrs. Wallace Reid was one of the largest stars of the silent film era and is widely known for her acting, screenwriting and directing abilities. "The Human Wreckage" and "The Red Kimono" are but two films among the dozens that feature her in a starring role during her career.
