New York: Simon and Schuster, 1962. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. 5 3/4 X 8 3/8 Inches. 379 PP. Near Fine / Very Good. Item #1052
Signed and inscribed, "For Miss Jude, With sedate affection and mannerly regard - Ol' John D." directly on the ffep. Stated "First Printing" copy. Original price of $5.50 intact on front flap of dust jacket. Bound in original publisher green cloth. DJ exhibits slight wear at edges and one crease down the left of spine. The front and back panels are near perfect, and I would guess that the jacket was once folded inside the book and has been preserved due to this. Unusually bright in all respects. Signed copies of this title are extremely scarce.
MacDonald is obviously most widely known for his Travis McGee novels and for his connections to Florifa. The list of authors who claim to have been influenced by MacDonald is a veritable who's who of American literature and includes Stephen King, Carl Hiaasen and Kurt Vonnegut among others.
